Our trip to NYC...So one of the highlights of our anniversary road trip was a visit for an evening and a day to New York City. It was amazing, shocking, diverse and dirty all in the same breath. (If you know what I mean.) Here's some pictures to share what it was like. Unfortunately we ran out of battery when we got to Central park so we don't have any pictures from there on. (the subway, Ground Zero, Petra and Paul, and all the other cool stuff). I'll start with the end because it's a pretty funny story... at the end of the NYC excursion we were sitting at the bus terminal waiting for our bus to take us back out to my cousin Diana's house. We encountered an elderly couple who had lost their way and needed to find their bus there in the Port Authority. However, we were literally 2 minutes from having our bus leave. I told Maggy to head to the bus and that I would make it some how. I took them to their bus and then did the OJ Simpson run through the terminal with my backpack with all of our gear all the way back over to our escalator and up to the bus. I made it to the bus as he was shutting the door and releasing the air brake. I pounded on the door and he opened the door and I got on. It was "in a New York minute"! (c: I only wish I could have gotten a picture of it.
We stayed here at the Westin at Times Square. The design of this building really stood out from the rest of the buildings downtown I thought. The room was really sweet looking and very relaxing.
They even had terry clothe bath robes, and Starbuck's coffee which we took full advantage of! Can you tell we were amazed? I mean who takes a picture of Starbuck's coffee and bath robes. The room just amazed us and it really set the mood for just an amazing night out on the town.
The view from our room over the city was really amazing too!
My parent's bought us tickets to see "The Phantom of the Opera" which was something both of us wanted to do so bad. Neither of us had actually seen it but we knew most of the music. Before the show we ate pizza at a really cool brick oven place called John's which was right across the street from our theater.
This is our food being made. We got a calzone with spinach, green peppers, and saugage. A glass of wine of which Maggy took one sip and said she felt tingly. (c: We weren't technically supposed to take pictures inside the theater so (c: pretend you didn't see these.
this picture here to the left is of my wife while I was in the balcony up above. You can see her in the bottom center of the picture in the black dress. Those were our seats! I could have kicked a paper football onto the stage (c: Thanks again mom and dad, you guys rock!!! After the show we walked the streets in the city that never sleeps. We kicked it with "them" until midnight and then headed back to the Westin. But not before we stopped in at Ben & Jerry's for some "chubby hubby", which they didn't have unfortunately, so we settled for one of their other amazing flavors. Chubby Hubby is our favorite and we treat ourselves to it on special occasions. This street magacian was amazing!

Marghie with the mounted police horse. The next morning we got up early and headed out to see the sites. But our camera ran out of battery about noon. We didn't take the carriage ride or the row boat under the famous bridge while we were in Central Park. My dream was to do that at night but we ran out of time. We took a picture of it anyway. This was my last picture... )c: and so it's the end of my post. |
